I am a highly experienced university professor who has worked as a personal English tutor to a large number of high profile and high net worth clients in Monaco. I was the Professor of English at the International University of Monaco, as well as Director of PR for five years. Before my move to Monaco, I also trained and worked for eight years as a journalist for the BBC in London.
My clients have ranged in age from 7 to 41, and I have taught all levels of English from literacy skills to PhD advising. I have taught English at Key Stages 1-3 and at GCSE, A-level and iB. I advise on theses for Bachelors and Masters degrees as well as PhDs. I have also taught English as a Second Language, both in the classroom and privately, to young and mature students.
I have helped students with their university applications, including personal statements, and all the students I’ve taught have been accepted to their first university of choice – these include Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths, King’s College London, Nottingham, Queen Mary, Sheffield and St Andrews. Many of my students are awarded scholarships on the basis of their personal statement.
During my time at the BBC, I produced the online content for Key Stage Bitesize and GCSE Bitesize, as well as running online forums for students aged 7-16 to help with schoolwork and exams. I also taught in the BBC’s revolutionary interactive classroom.
I particularly enjoy working with students who need to build up confidence in their abilities. I’m passionate about teaching, and I’ve found personal tutoring to be an incredibly satisfying vocation – particularly when a student raises their grade from a 0 to an 7. Many students find that working one-on-one with the right tutor, who can explain things in a way they can relate to, really makes the subject come alive; it’s no longer a traumatic experience trying to do homework or revise for exams.
